Itinerary
1. ARRIVAL AT NOUAKCHOTT
Airport pickup and transfer to hotel. Depending on the arrival time, we will take a brief tour of the city. Lodging in a hotel.
2. NOUAKCHOTT -ATAR -CHINGUETTI
On the best tar road in Mauritania we will drive trough Akjoujt to Atar. From there on we’ll take the track to Chinguetti, the seventh holy city of Islam declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Lodging at a guesthouse.
3.

1.              CHINGUETTI – OUADANE
Our journey will take us across 120 km of fesh-fesh, the true sand dune desert with no tracks, where we will experience the isolation of the lost cities of the desert.  When we arrive in Ouadane, we will visit the museum that displays the surprisingly glorious past of this country. Camping in our haima.

4. OUADANE - PASSE D'AMOGJAR - TERJIT
The Passe d’Amogjar is a beautiful canyon, where we will see some amazing prehistoric paintings and the “Fort Saganne”, built by the French. After a short visit of Atar we will make our way into the desert along a picturesque track to Terjit, at the foot of the Mauritanidas mountain range, where an oasis with thermal springs and marvelous pools awaits us for bathing. Lodging at an inn with haimas.
5. TERJIT - AKJOUJT - BENICHAB
From the stony Adrar desert, we will head towards Akjoujt en route to Benichab, where there is a large layer of fossil water, 90 meters deep, used for bottled mineral water. Camping in our haima.
6. BENICHAB - TIOUILIT
Leaving Benichab, we will approach Tiouilit along the dunes that lead to the ocean passing through ancient salt lakes. Tiouilit is a village of Black Fishermen, the Imraguen, who sometimes fish with the help of dolphins. Camping in our haima.
7. TIOUILIT - NOUAKCHOTT
After a relaxing morning at the beach savouring the freshest of fish, we drive along the beach to Nouakchott. Lodging in a hotel.
8. NOUAKCHOTT
We will visit the local markets, the museum and, in the afternoon, the lively fish market before departure.

DOCUMENTS
· Passport with minimum six months’ validity
· Obligatory visa for Mauritania
· Travel insurance.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Because we operate internationally, it is impossible for us to offer travel insurance, particularly due to the repatriation clause in the event of illness. Insurance in Mauritania is not very reliable, so we request that you purchase the obligatory travel insurance in your country of origin.
VISA

You will find Mauritanian embassies at the locations on our list of Embassies.

VACCINATION
You must only have a record of vaccination against yellow fever if you stay more than two weeks. As for other preventative measures, such as anti-malaria treatments, etc., we recommend that you contact the Foreign Health Service.
